Biography

Kristin Rule

Australian Cellist, Composer & Technologist Kristin Rule has a passion for creating meaningful and powerful works. For Kristin, a composition graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts, music is about evoking the spirit of aliveness, of living our one and only life uniquely. With her 130 year old French cello, high quality recording equipment and years of experiences weaving multiple cello layers, Kristin ‘mesmerises’ her audiences with music that defies stylistic boundaries. The aim is simple, to educe an emotional journey at the deepest level.

In 2010, Kristin released her self funded solo live looping cello album entitled ‘The Knife that Cuts a Tear’. This release led to original film score opportunities; namely composer / performer for the feature length Screen Australia funded documentary ‘Memoirs of a Plague’; major theatre collaborations as composer / performer including an Australia Council / Playing Australia funded four month production and national tour of a multimedia play entitled ‘Bare Witness’; festival performances including The Castlemaine State Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, and the Indigenous ‘Shearwater’ Festival. Kristin has also had a number of TV and film synchs including National Geographic ‘Creatures of the Flood’, Helga’s Bread TVC, Sony 4k ‘Making of’, and more recently, multiple synch placements in a 3 part ABC TV Screen Australia funded documentary series entitled ‘Afghanistan – Inside Australia’s War’.
